One of the most recognizable Tang dynasty outfits is the Qixiong Ruqun (齐胸襦裙). In this style, the skirt is tied high above the chest, creating a flowing and elegant silhouette.

Song Dynasty Hanfu (960–1279)

Song dynasty clothing often featured softer colors and more understated designs. One of the most representative garments of this period is the Beizi (褙子), a long outer robe worn over inner garments.

Common elements of Song dynasty Hanfu include:

Ming Dynasty Hanfu (1368–1644)

The Ming Dynasty brought a return to structured and richly detailed clothing.

Ming Hanfu is known for its layered garments and luxurious fabrics. One of the most common outfits from this period is the Aoqun (袄裙), which consists of a longer jacket worn over a skirt.

Typical features of Ming dynasty Hanfu include:

  • Structured jackets with wider collars

  • Rich embroidery and brocade fabrics

  • Layered garments with belts and sashes

  • Decorative sleeve designs

Many Ming dynasty garments also incorporated intricate patterns such as florals, clouds, and auspicious symbols.
