Tang Dynasty 唐
The most liberal of all Chinese dynasties and embraced influences from other cultures. Bridal fashion was colorful, layered, and featured a variety of ornaments, embroidery, and matched with extravagant hair ornaments. The bride dons a green gown while the groom dress in red. The clash in color creates a lively and bold spirit.
According to Scroll 45, in the Old Book of Tang, "Records on Clothing," states, "Both aristocrats and commoners must prepare for the Six Rituals of Marriage before their wedding ceremonies in order to honor the ancestral shrines and be respectful to the in-laws."
The "six rituals" were established for marriage etiquette in China since ancient times.
