Qiyao Ruqun, Maisie

During the Western Han dynasty, black was favored in clothing, referred to as the "dark style," worn by both high-ranking officials and ordinary individuals. Social status was determined by the quality and color of materials used. In the Eastern Han dynasty, red gained prominence as the esteemed color, representing the "fire virtue" of the dynasty. Government officials adhered to the Five Elements theory, donning colors aligned with the seasons for ceremonial occasions.

Care Instructions

How to care for your Hanfu?

  • Hanfu garments are mostly delicate, especially those with embroidery, so handwashing is preferred.
  • If you choose to machine wash, use the gentlest cycle and place the garment in a laundry bag for protection.
  • After washing, hang the Hanfu indoors in a well-ventilated area to dry.
  • Avoid exposing it to direct sunlight to prevent color fading.

  • Store your Hanfu in breathable fabric garment bags to protect it.
  • Avoid hanging Hanfu for long periods, as it may stretch the fabric. Instead, carefully fold the garments and store them flat or stack them neatly in a storage container.
