The adoption of pants by women during the Tang Dynasty was influenced by practical considerations, as well as cultural and social changes. The availability of horses and the prominence of equestrian activities led to the need for more practical and comfortable clothing for women engaged in such pursuits. Additionally, the influence of Central Asian cultures, such as the Turkic and Sogdian peoples, who had a tradition of women wearing pants, also played a role in shaping Tang Dynasty fashion.

Care Instructions

How to care for your Hanfu?

Washing:

  • Hanfu garments are mostly delicate, especially those with embroidery, so handwashing is preferred.
  • If you choose to machine wash, use the gentlest cycle and place the garment in a laundry bag for protection.
  • After washing, hang the Hanfu indoors in a well-ventilated area to dry.
  • Avoid exposing it to direct sunlight to prevent color fading.

Storage:

  • Store your Hanfu in breathable fabric garment bags to protect it.
  • Avoid hanging Hanfu for long periods, as it may stretch the fabric. Instead, carefully fold the garments and store them flat or stack them neatly in a storage container.
