Quju Shenyi "曲裾深衣" or Quju Pao "曲裾袍", emerged as a popular clothing style during the Qin Dynasty (221-206 BCE) and continued to be prevalent during the subsequent Han Dynasty (202 BCE-220 CE).

This distinctive attire, characterized by its curved hemline (quju), reflected the evolving fashion trends of the time. The Quju Shenyi or Quju Pao featured a deep robe (shenyi) that draped elegantly along the body, emphasizing a sense of grace and sophistication.

During the Qin and Han Dynasties, the color palette of Quju Shenyi or Quju Pao varied, reflecting different social statuses and occasions. Common colors for everyday wear included subdued tones such as earthy browns, greens, and blues, which blended harmoniously with the natural environment. On special occasions, vibrant hues like rich reds and deep purples were favored, symbolizing prosperity and joy.

Care Instructions

How to care for your Hanfu?

Washing:

  • Hanfu garments are mostly delicate, especially those with embroidery, so handwashing is preferred.
  • If you choose to machine wash, use the gentlest cycle and place the garment in a laundry bag for protection.
  • After washing, hang the Hanfu indoors in a well-ventilated area to dry.
  • Avoid exposing it to direct sunlight to prevent color fading.

Storage:

  • Store your Hanfu in breathable fabric garment bags to protect it.
  • Avoid hanging Hanfu for long periods, as it may stretch the fabric. Instead, carefully fold the garments and store them flat or stack them neatly in a storage container.
